Most of us see piles of trash and keep it moving. Some of us are able to take a closer look at this trash and find a better usage for it. The man in this story is a prime example of the latter. Amarildo Silva Filho is a Brazilian man who had a job at a local grocery store that allowed him to remain financially solvent. He was not being fulfilled, though.
He knew that he had a greater purpose in the world. He wanted to assist all of the animals that did not have a chance. Filho also wanted to contribute to the betterment of the environment. When he sees trash in his neighborhood, he tries to take the ‘glass half full’ approach. Filho believes that trash can be re-purposed for a wide range of useful pursuits.
Judging from the results that he has been able to obtain, it is safe to say that he is on the right path. On one fateful day, he came across a set of tires that had been left outside. The average person would have probably kept right on walking. Amarildo was not about to let the opportunity pass him by. He knew that these tires could be used to help the less fortunate.
He decided that he would try his best to mold the tires into suitable beds for all the stray animals running the streets. Amarildo was not about to let these strays spend their nights in the cold. This was an experiment that he was willing to take on. Before long, this simple experiment would soon take over his life. He had found his purpose.
Can you believe that this man has been able to craft thousands upon thousands of animal beds with the use of old tires? It only takes him 40 minutes. The tires are cut up, washed and fashioned into tires in no time at all. The beds are given their own designs and colors as well. His attention to detail is absolutely marvelous, isn’t it?
He is now receiving orders from pet owners everywhere. What started as a project to assist stray dogs and the environment has become something else entirely. In the meantime, he is looking for additional help. The business has grown to the point where he cannot handle all of the orders on his own anymore.
