Many homeowners are understandably concerned about the possibility of an insect home invasion. They get into our home, regardless of how much we try to stop them and if we leave something behind, they will be on it in great numbers before we know it.
It is not out of the ordinary to find an ant or two in your home and it isn’t time to panic when you see one scurrying across the countertop. When it becomes a problem, however, the infestation may be a lot worse than what you could ever imagine. Immediate action is necessary to help reduce the problem as quickly as possible.
Most of us don’t want to spray chemical insecticides inside of our home. They may be effective to a certain extent but they not only harm the ants, they also harm humans and our pets as well. If you find yourself in this situation, there is a natural way to take care of the problem and you would be amazed by how well it works.
This is a simple solution but it is one that people have been sharing online because of the success they experience. It only requires you to put together 3 different ingredients and you probably already have them at home. If you don’t have them, you can pick them up at your local grocery store. Not only is it easy to make this concoction, it is cheap as well!
This natural solution works because of the way to seek out food. They send out a few ants from the colony to hunt for a food and water source. When they find one, they go back to the colony to alert the others. Before long, the ants are streaming to the source and that is where the real problem occurs.
When you leave out this natural liquid poison, the first ants on the scene will drink it and take it right back to the rest of the colony. They will share it and the colony will be depleted.
Are you ready to make it? It uses Borax, which is destructive to the outer skeleton and digestive system of the ants. It works like gangbusters.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
– 1 cup sugar
– 3 tablespoons of boric acid
– 3 cups warm water
– Cotton balls
– A small container or the cap of an old medicine bottle
Directions:
1. Mix the sugar with the boric acid until combined.
2. Slowly add warm water while continuously stirring to prevent lumps from forming.
3. Soak a cotton ball in the solution, then place it in the small container or cap.
4. Place it in an area where you’ve spotted the most ants and watch the sweet scent of the sugar draw them into the poison.
Note: If you don’t have a small enough container or cap, you can place the soaked cotton ball on foil or wax paper instead.
It shouldn’t take long before the number of ants you’re seeing decreases. It tends to work within a couple of hours. If you think you have a larger colony at your home, place a cotton ball soaked in this solution near the spot where you see them.
If the problem is persistent, you may want to contact a professional pest control service. Certain types of ants are more difficult to eradicate than others and they could even be hazardous to human health by contaminating food.
