Ken Watson was a rather interesting individual. Even in his senior years, he managed to do some things that surprised everyone, including his family. He learned how to skydive when he was 85 years old and he did some rather unusual stunts, including being strapped to the wing of an airplane. The last stunt that he did, however, was something that nobody was expecting. He even managed to keep it secret until the very end.
The two-year-old girl that lived next to Ken, Cadi was really the apple of his eye. They had a great friendship and after the funeral, Owen Wilson was surprised when he found out that his daughter had a bag full of items at Ken’s house. Somehow, he had been storing items a way that secretly belonged to this little girl and nobody knew it.
The friendship that Ken shared with Cadi ran very deep. He knew that there would come a time when he was unable to give her a Christmas gift so he bought 14 Christmas gifts so that she would have one to open every year until she was 16.
“Our elderly neighbour passed away recently. His daughter popped round a few moments ago clutching a large plastic sack. In the sack were all the Christmas presents he’d bought for *our* daughter for the next thirteen years.”
Owen, along with his wife, Caroline, Facetimed her mother in Ireland. They were getting teary-eyed over the kindness that their neighbor showed to their daughter. Nobody had any idea he was holding them back and putting something so wonderful together as his life was coming to a close.
The purpose of the gifts was to give one per year but a problem came up that nobody expected. The gifts weren’t labeled so they didn’t know what order they should be opened. Obviously, a gift for a two-year-old girl would be different than a gift for a 13-year-old girl.
They did open one gift and it was a book. It is also obvious that there are some other books and a few soft toys. As for the other items, it’s really just a guessing game.
Ken was in his late 80s before he passed away. He lived in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan next to the family with the little girl. Although he had only been there for two years, he formed a strong relationship with the baby. Owen said that he was a “real character” and he lived up to that reputation.
Most people don’t know their neighbors and if they do, they probably wouldn’t recognize them if they were out at a store. We’re happy that there are still people like this in the world.
